Medical ethics and ethical responsibility of employees to provide quality Healthcare services

This study empirically examines employees’ commitment to ethical responsibility through organizational culture, including limitations of previous studies in organizational capabilities in healthcare systems. The research model and associated hypotheses were tested using structural equations modelling technique based on data collected from medical staff who worked at large hospitals in metropolitan areas of South Korea. The result of the study is expected to contribute to both theory and practice of employees’ ethical responsibility commitment in terms of best practices for providing the ethical responsibility to patients. In addition, it will suggest the implications of a strategic management regime required for creating organizational culture as a guide to enhancing ethical behavior and organizational capabilities. Healthcare organizations should develop an organizational culture with a view to strengthen healthcare institutions’ competitiveness, enhance their contribution to the community, and encourage ethical behavior of medical staff. The study will provide practical implications for hospital administrators regarding organizational capabilities exert a positive influence on the organization members’ ethical compliance to provide high quality healthcare service.
