Effects of TNF-a and minoxidilon human hair growth in vitro
초록
TNF-α has a major role in alopecia areata by inducing catagen-like hair changes. Minoxidil is used for the treatment of alopecia areata combined with other treatment modalities, but the effectiveness is uncertain. We investigate the role of minoxidil on the TNF-α induced inhibition of hair growth using in vitro hair organ culture model. The following results were obtained from this study. 1. TNF-α have an statistically significant inhibitory effect on the rate of linear hair growth in cultured hair follicles. 2. Minoxidil do not have an statistically significant stimulatory effect on the rate of linear hair growth in cultured hair follicles with or without TNF-α. In conclusion, minoxidil does not altered the inhibitory effect of TNF-α on hair growth in vitro study.
