Performance Assessment of a Hydrogen-fired mHAT Adopting EGR

To maximize the reduction of NOx emissions and to minimize the performance reduction of a hydrogen-fired micro gas turbine (MGT), a micro humid air turbine (mHAT) that adopted exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) was proposed. When EGR was applied to an MGT using hydrogen fuel, the NOx emissions were reduced by 89 similar to 95%; however, the power decreased by 22% and the efficiency decreased by 24%. For a hydrogen-fired mHAT adopting EGR, the power increased by 15% and the efficiency increased by 16%, compared to the MGT system with EGR. In addition, the NOx emissions decreased by 89 similar to 94%, compared to the hydrogen-fired MGT, which was similar to the performance of the MGT with EGR.
