Review on Technology of Deployable Boom in Solar Sail in Viewpoint of Material, Structure, and Manufacturing
초록
Solar sail spacecrafts can gain propulsion using the momentum change through reflecting the photon packets of energy from the Sun. In order to successfully carry out space missions, it is essential to figure out materials and structures of the deployment devices of the solar sail systems under space environment. This review focused on technical trends of materials and structures of the deployable booms, as well as space environmental condition, which has been world-widely investigated for a recent decade for solar sailing. On the basis of the review, lenticular booms of carbon fiber reinforced fabrics were fabricated by taking weaving angles as design parameter with regard to axial direction of the boom structure, and differences in the structural behaviors were experimentally observed and analyzed.
