This study presents the vibration analysis technique for the rectangular thin plate structures subjected to a moving point force based on the frequency-domain spectral element method (SEM). Using the discrete Fourier transform (DFT) theory, moving point force in time domain is transformed to a series of stationary point force in frequency domain. Desired vibration responses of thin plate structures subjected to a moving point force can be obtained by superposition of individual vibration responses due to each stationary point force and the inverse discrete Fourier transform (IDFT). By comparing with other techniques such as modal analysis method and finite element method, the accuracy and efficiency of present method are verified.
