Young age and Gender, independent prognostic factors of renal cell carcinoma: a multicenter study

To verifiy the differences of clincal characteristics in the patients with renal cell carcinoma according to the age groups and gender. At the 14 medical centers, 1896 patients who were diagnosed as renal cell carcinoma after surgical treatment for renal mass were included. In multivariate analysis, the age groups(p=0.001, HR1.71, CI 1.26-2.33) and gender(p=0.20, HR 1.41, CI 1.06-1.89), as well as TNM stage, tumor size and Fuhrman nuclear grade, were independent prognostic factors for cancer specific survival. In conclusion, young patients with RCC included more male patients. Female gender and young age under 50 years were independent prognostic factors of RCC.
