A computational method based on the non-boundary conforming method is developed to investigate the fluid-rigid body interaction, in particular the so-called lock-in phenomenon of an oscillatory cylinder in the flow. Viscous, two-dimensional flow is considered and the incompressibility is accommodated by FVM and fractional step method. Immersed boundary method among many non-boundary conforming methods is implemented to consider the prescribed oscillatory motion of the body in the Cartesian grid in the present study. The results present the flow field around the body. In particular at lock-in frequency of oscillation. It assumes that the cylinder is elastically sprung and possesses mechanical damping in across-wind direction and rigidly constrained in along-wind direction.
