An Improved Hysteresis Control of the Voltage Bus Conditioner For a High Voltage DC Distributed Power System

Abstract – More-electric vehicle (MEV) carry many loads with varied functions. In particular, there may be constant power loads or large pulsed loads with short duty ratios which can affect the normal operation of other loads. In this paper, a DC-DC bidirectional converter with an improved hysteresis controller is used as a Voltage Bus Conditioner (VBC) to damp the voltage transients or instability on the DC bus. The used VBC have the reduced storage capacitor. Also, an improved hysteresis controller with the constant switching frequency is proposed for the VBC system. The calculation of the variable hysteresis bandwidth is calculated automatically by the digital control algorithm. This technique ensures the constant switching frequency and tight control for the VBC. The simulation results (by Matlab Simulink) are presented which verify the proposed control principle and demonstrate the practicality of the circuit topology.
