Formation and perception of parent-child trust and distrust: The case of Korean high school students and their parents.

초록

This study examined the perception of trust and distrust of Korean adolescents and their parents. High school students and their parents completed an open-ended survey. The results indicate that adolescents trust their parents because of parental sacrifice and blood relationship. The reasons for distrusting father are as follows: I cannot respect him and he does not trust me. The reasons of distrusting their mothers are: She does not trust me and I do not respect her. The implications of the results for the existing theories of trust will be discussed.
