Spectral Element Vibration Analysis of a Symmetric Composite Plate

Despite of outstanding features of the spectral element method (SEM), its applications have been limited mostly to one-dimensional (1D) structures or the plates with very specific geometries and boundary conditions Thus, the purpose of this paper is to propose a spectral element model for a symmetric composite plate. The performance of the proposed spectral element model is then evaluated in due course by the comparison with exact solutions and the solutions by the standard finite element method (FEM).
