In this study, Tollens' reagent is used for silver (Ag) incorporation on porous three-dimensional carbon nitride (C3N4). The resulting Ag-doped C3N4 exhibits enhanced photocatalytic degradation of rhodamine B due to improved surface properties and charge dynamics while retaining the highly porous structure of the original C3N4. Ag introduction not only forms the Schottky junction but also promotes surface plasmon resonance effects and facilitates efficient charge separation and transfer. The photogenerated electrons transfer from 3D C3N4 to the Ag NPs surface, further suppressing the electron-hole recombination. Tollens' reagent provides a benign strategy for highly dispersed Ag incorporation on porous C3N4 with a minimal effect on morphology while significantly boosting photocatalytic properties.
