This study was conducted to evaluaye fouling occurring from a fluorine manufacturing process where acidic rinse wastewater was treated with disc-tube type of reverse osmosis membrane. It also addressed a proper way to prevent membrane from being cotaminated. Analytical study revealed that membrane was considerably contaminated by formations of scales consisting of Ca2+, SO4++, F-. Complex forms of scales were removed in a subsequent cleaning procedure as sodium hydroxide was contacted following by citric acid introduced. It was very important that cleaning schedule was orderly applied for recovering a permeate prouction. Furthermore, ultrasonic cleaning could additionally improve the recovery of permeate flux.
