Analysis of Korean adolescents' conception of trust and its relations to psychological and social variables: With the specific focus on undergraduate students and employees.

The aim of this research is to examine the relationship among Korean adolescents trust consciousness (scale developed by Yamagishi, 1998), trust for public institutions, and trust for people are examined. More specifically, the relationship among adolescents' trust consciousness, social factors, and psychological variables are examined. The parent-child relationship, relationship with friends, and social support are included as social variables. Self-efficacy, moral disengagement, and life-satisfaction are included as psychological variables. A total of 150 undergraduate students and 60 employees participated in this study. The results indicate that Korean adolescents possess low level of trust for the public institutions. However, the trust for family members is found to be higher than trust for the public leaders. In addition, the social and psychological variables have a significant relationship in the formation of trust.
