A Modified PCF Access Procedure for the IEEE 802.11 Wireless LAN

A trusted asynchronous data transmission service are the time-bounded multimedia data transmission service are served through Contention Free Period (CFP) over the IEEE 802.11 Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN). But the delay time of data transmission and the buffer size of stations can decrease the quality of multimedia data transmission service with time-bounded characters. This paper proposes a PCF scheme with a priority that provides the channel allocation scheme in a CFP duration. Also, the polling list management scheme proposed on the Point Coordinator (PC) for providing a multimedia data transmission service. Decreasing the delay time of data transmission and the buffer size of stations can improve the quality of multimedia data transmission service. Simulations are conducted to analyze the proposed scheme. The results show that the proposed scheme decrease delay time and buffer size of each station on time-bounded multimedia data transmission
