Metal Organic Frameworks (MOFs) are porous structures comprised of metal clusters interconnected via multidentate organic linkers, which are attracting attention as materials for energy storage, adsorption and catalysis. In this talk, MOFs synthesis using slvothermal/hydrothermal, microwave-assisted, sonochemical, electrochemical, mechanochemical, ionothermal, dry-gel conversion, and microfluidic methods will be presented. Adsorptive removal CO2 over MOFs is being considered for its sequestration. Next, efforts to improve the low pressure adsorption capacity (and also the CO2 selectivity against N2 or CH4) in MOFs will be summarized:such as adoption of new functionalized ligands, generation of coordinative unsatureated open metal sites, fabrication of polar frameworks and ion-exchange sites and catenation effect. Finally, cases of MOF application in catalysis utilizing 1) metal sites and 2) organic moieties in MOFs as active sites, and (c) MOFs as a support material for noble metal nanoparticles will be presented.
