A Rolling Friction Control Study of Magnetoreheological Elastomer
초록
Magnetorheological elastomers (MREs) are smart materials whose stiffness and shear modulus can be changed by excited magnetic fields. There has been many researches on evaluating the material properties and tribological characteristics of MREs. Chen investigated the MREs based on natural rubber [1]. Xu and Liao developed an active-damping-compensated MRE adaptive tuned vibration absorber [2]. Lee studied the tribological Characteristics of a Magneto - Rheological Elastomer [3]. However, the friction application study of MRE tire had not been examined yet. Rolling friction coefficient of MRE can be changed by an applied magnetic field. the rolling friction coefficient relates to the slip rate. By adjusting the slip rate, it can adapt to various road conditions to achieve the optimal friction effect. In this study, an application study of MRE to rolling device is conducted. To achieve it, MREs are prepared a rolling friction tester is designed to evaluate the changes in the rolling friction coefficient.
