Dynamic Channel Allocation Scheme for MAC Protocol in LR-WPAN

In the wireless sensor network, which covers wide area and many nodes, the traffic from sensor is concentrated around the sink node. When IEEE 802.15.4 standard is adapted to wireless sensor network, transmission delay and data loss rate get longer and higher due to the concentrated traffic around the sink node. In this paper we propose dynamic channel allocation (DCA) scheme for MAC protocol to improve IEEE 802.15.4 standard. The DCA scheme dynamically allocates channels to reduce collisions and to increase transmission success rate. The performance of DCA scheme is fairly compared to IEEE 802.15.4 standard. The results of our extensive experiments show that the proposed scheme shows superior data transmission rate, channel usage, and power efficiency compared to IEEE 802.15.4 standard.
