초록

We report an external laser beam injection method for reducing the timing jitter and narrowing the spectral linewidth of optical pulses generated by gain-switched single-mode 1.5 um vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (VCSELs). The jitter-reduced and linewidth narrowed optical pulses of the long-wavelength VCSELs will be useful as signal sources for the long-distance optical communication systems and as single-photon sources for the quantum communications.
