초록
We have rigorously calculated for the first time all the inter-electrode and pixel resistances of thin-film transistor liquid crystal displays using the total power dissipation inside a unit pixel of TFT-LCDs. The power dissipation was obtained from the three-dimensional profiles of the potential distribution for conduction under the molecular director profiles. The effects of lateral fields generated by multiple electrodes of finite sizes were taken into account in the simulation. As a result, we confirmed that the pixel resistance for our pixel structure is about 15% smaller than that of the conventional approach, and the data-common and pixel-data resistances were not negligible.
