Purpose: This study aimed to explore the effectiveness of forgiveness therapy as a therapeutic intervention for the wives of alcoholics, who were victims of spouses’ physical and psychological abuses. Method : One group time series design was used with pre-test, post-test, and a 3-month follow-up test to determine the impact of Forgiveness Therapy on the victims’ resilience, self-esteem and spirituality. A total number of 8 subjects completed 12 weeks of a weekly 150 minutes session, and 8 additional subjects were expected to complete their participation in the study. Results : This report is based on the 8 subjects who completed the Forgiveness Therapy. Upon completion of Forgiveness Therapy, significantly higher scores compared to pre-test resilience 118.63(5.81); self-esteem 27.57(0.92); spirituality 131.00(3.77); forgiveness 159.25(11.72), were reported on the post-test with resilience 128.88(4.37), self-esteem 28.43(0.81), spirituality 139.50(5.95), but no significance on forgiveness score 154.00(6.63) was reported. Discussion: Resilience score was reported to be statistically superior compared to other measurement. However due to the small sample size, this result is still inconclusive, but the researchers hope to see the more conclusive outcomes upon completion of the study before finalizing the outcomes of the effectiveness of Forgiveness Therapy.
