Transparent electro-conductive nanocomposites of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxy thiophene)/poly(styrenesulfonate)/antimony-doped tin oxide (PEDOT/ PSS/ATO) were prepared by a solution mixing method. Two types of acicular-shaped ATO with average diameter of 20 and 50 nm, and two types of spherical-shaped ATO with average particle sizes of 20 and 150 nm were selected. The morphology and thermal behavior of prepared nanocomposite have been investigated by SEM, DSC and TGA. From the SEM measurements, the surface morphology of PEDOT/PSS develops a porous nodular structure with smaller pores whereas the PEDOT/PSS/ATO nanocomposites show cauliflower structure with many recesses in it. Moreover, the transparent suspensions were coated onto various polymer substrates using a film applicator and their electrical resistivity change and temperature coefficient behavior were compared. The nanocomposites containing acicular-shaped ATO with diameter of 20 nm exhibited a sharp decrease in electrical resistivity than the other sample.
