Tensile Shear Strength of Inconel 600 and 690 Welded with Pulsed Nd:YAG Laser

This paper deal with the investigation of the tensile shear strength of Inconel 600 tube welded with Inconel 690 sleeve for increasing the lifetime of the steam generator. It is observed that the tensile shear strength of the welded specimen is corresponded to about 60% of that of base metal. Ductile fracture is dominantly occurred in the welds but the cracking has not been observed. In spite of absence of the crack the tensile shear strength of laser weelds is not sufficient.
