초록

Introduction Whether it be Asian or Western, tip surgery could be said to be the most complex and difficult part of rhinoplasty. Especially in Koreans, due to their systematic and anatomic structure, tip surgery's result was relatively considered negative so its procedure's development was weak and dissatisfactory regardless of the long history of rhinoplasty. However, recently tip surgery is generally being carried out due to the positive operation of the surgeons and the development of the procedure which deserves attention. Nevertheless, tip surgery is not scientifically systematized yet, therefore the procedure varies depending on the surgeon as well as the results even though there is a standard procedure to some degree. The anatomical characteristic of Korean's nasal tip Generally, Korean nasal tip's anatomical characteristiv includes the following: thick skin, thin and weak cartilage, depression of columella, flat lobule and is a bit amorphous. However, recently as the features are gradually getting Westernized, external structure of the nose is also changing resulting in various shapes. Nevertheless, the general characteristic of Korean nasal tip is that the lower lateral cartilage is thin and small. Therefore, Koreans rather augment than to reduce in nasal tip surgery as well as nasal dorsum unlike Westerns.
