The Prediction of AverageCompressive Strengths Considering Slenderness Ratios of Stiffened Panels for In-Services Vessels

초록

This paper presents average compressive strengths of stiffened panels which are so important that sum of average compressive forces in each stiffened panels is hull girder moment. First, distributions of slenderness ratios are investigated for deck and bottom area of in-service vessels, and, second, nonlinear FEAs of stiffened panels are carried out for the probable ranges of slenderness ratios. Combined loads of lateral pressure and average compression are applied to FE model. It is noted that the lateral pressure can largely reduce the average compressive strength.
