Kinematic analysis of various mechanical press mechanisms

In this work, kinematical analysis is preformed to find out mechanical characteristics of various linkage drives for mechanical press. Mechanical characteristics of conventional and newly designed drive are investigated and compared each other mainly in terms of slide velocity and load capacity. A crank-slider mechanism with arc crank-pin guide is introduced and analyzed particularly for kinematical performance using a kinematical analysis software. The new linkage drive turns out to be effective in terms of load and velocity characteristics, and productivity. In addition the newly developed drive presented in this work could satisfy various forming requirement easily by changing a part of the specifications of driving system. Kinematical performance provides a basis for the proper selection of mechanical presses.
