Adopted Erasure Code for SSD based RAID-6 System

초록

This paper presents an improved approach for performance and energy consumption of SSD based RAID-6 systems. The new encoding method has been considered to enhance the performance of the SSD based RAID-6 system. We present an adopted erasure code platform for SSD based RAID-6 system. The proposed method differs from existing techniques in that the results of XOR operations are encrypted into XOR reference matrix (XRM) and rules for encoding or decoding erasure codes are generated from characteristics of XRM. The experimental results show that the proposed method improves encoding time 35% faster than the traditional method. The additional experimental result shows that the performance of XRM algorithm are improved from 20% up to 35% than those of Liberation, RDP, EVENODD erasure codes in terms of access time and memory usage. Besides, the proposed method does not have CPU overhead to encode or decode erasure code as compared to exiting XOR operation based erasure codes.
