Optimization of the Driving Voltage Scheme for Fast Response in AMLCDs with 3-D FEM Simulator: TechWiz LCD

In this paper, we propose a novel driving scheme for optimizing the pre-tilt voltage as well as overshot voltage in the upgraded dynamic capacitance compensation (DCC-II). In order to verify the applicability of our proposed driving scheme in practical LCD cell, we evaluated the response characteristics of a PVA cell for operating range between 0 V and 6 V with a commercial 3D-FEM simulator ‘TechWiz LCD’. We select the optimal value of the pre-tilt voltage and the overshot voltage from the evaluated response characteristics. When the driving scheme has the optimal value, the response time improve more than 20% of the conventional DCC scheme.
