Adaptive Image Up-Scaling Algorithm Using Local Edge Characteristics
초록
This paper proposes an adaptive image interpolation algorithm using local image characteristics. There are many interpolation algorithms and each algorithm has different advantages and drawbacks. Therefore, it is important to choose a proper algorithm according to local features of image. Images can be partitioned into edge regions and flat regions. Furthermore, the edge regions are classified into directional edge regions having directivity and complex texture regions. In this paper, we propose a method that classifies image into three regions and adaptively applies a proper interpolation algorithm to each region. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms conventional algorithm.
