Synthesis of Novel highly N-substitutied propellanes

초록

Propellanes are tricyclic compounds in which a common C-C bond between bridgehead atoms is connected by three other bridges. There have been many efforts for effective synthesis of propellanes owing to their interesting and challenging three-dimensional structure. Their skeletal structure with or without heteroatoms can also be found in many natural products. In particular, propellanes with heteroatoms such as nitrogen or/and oxygen atoms in the molecular skeleton would be useful in several applications. For example, azapropellanes with nitrogen atoms can be used as synthons for natural products, ligands for transition metal-mediated reactions, building blocks of cucurbiturils, fascinating new molecular hosts and precursors for high explosive molecules. We have been recently involved in the synthesis of azapropellanes that can be used as novel starting materials for molecular containers such as cucurbiturils as well as for high explosive materials. Herein, we will present our successful effort for the synthesis of some novel azapropellanes.
