On Housing Flexibility and Expandability: A Combined Design and Construction System

This article presents an ongoing research project focused on a network-based housing design model. To begin, the current state of online housing websites is examined. Second, an un-built housing model by R.M. Schindler is used as an archetype; Schindler’s compositional method and construction technique are briefly outlined. Finally, a network-based model is developed using a java applet to explore a variety of housing designs.
