Massive MIMO Precoding Selection in Hierarchical Cell Structure

A precoding selection scheme for massive MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) system in HCS (Hierarchical Cell Structure) with low computational complexity is proposed. Users are classified to two groups, i.e., inner cell and outer cell, based on effective channel gain. A BS calculates sum capacity for each group. Each group compares the sum capacities of ZF (Zero Forcing) and MF (Matched Filter), and selects the precoding scheme whose sum capacity is larger than that of other precoding. Simulation results demonstrate the improvement of sum capacity of the proposed algorithm.
