초록

TNF-αis a key cytokine in the development of the host's immune and inflammatory response to infection. Production of TNF-αis induced in cultures of macrophages infected with R. conorii and R. prowazekii. In contrast, O.tsutusgamushi Karp organisms have been reported to induced the production of little TNF-αin cultures of mouse peritoneal macrophages and macrophage-like P388D1 cells. Here we report that O.tsutusgamushi Boryong strain, the prevalent serotype strain in Korea, stimulated the production of TNF-αby murine macrophages cell line J774A.1 and RAW264.7 but not by P388D1. Both of live and heat-killed orientia stimulated the production fo TNF-α.
