This study aims to investigate a semi-adaptive inverse controller for generating vibration force in a car subsystem according to the target acceleration. In our control algorithm, conventional active and passive algorithms are comprehensively considered, and a semi-active controller is constructed to compensate for the target vibration signal more accurately and stably. After validating the algorithm through the simulation model, we embedded the control algorithm into a digital signal processing board, followed by the application to the steering wheel of a car. The controller could accurately pursue the target vibration level for a single harmonic signal within the error of similar to 0.7 dB under the hand-grabbing condition of the steering wheel owing to the real-time adaptation of the transfer function. Furthermore, the controller performed effectively even under the conditions of dual harmonics and an additional weight. The semi-active controller provides an accurate and efficient method for tracking vibration signals to evaluate car subsystems.
