Numerical Study on Effect of the Emission layer Insertion in Organic Light Emitting Diodes

In this paper, we discuss our numerical study on the carrier transport and recombination of the multi-layer structure for organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs). Our model includes Poisson’s equation to explain the carrier injection, transportation and emission in OLED devices. We used two simulation models to show effects caused by insertion of emission layer (EML). One of simulation models is a bilayer structure that is composed of a hole transport layer (HTL) and an electron transport layer (ETL). The other is a tri-layer structure which is made by putting an emission layer (EML) between a hole transport layer and an electron transport layer.
