CT and MR findings of renal tuberculosis

The purpose of this study was to describe the CT and MR findings of renal tuberculosis lesions. Caliectasis without dilation of renal pelvis was detected in sixteen (69.6%) cases: diffuse in ten cases and focal in six cases. MR coronal image showed infundibular narrowing in three cases. Diffuse enlargement of renal cases. Shrinkage of renal parenchyma with focal abscess in one. CT scan showed ureteral thickening in nine (39.1%) cases. Periureteral fat infiltration in three cases, and ureteral calcification in one. None of the ureteral lesion were detected by MR imaging. MR coronal image was helpful for detection of infundibular stricture. CT was more useful for diagnosis of ureteral thickening and periureteral lesions than MR imaging.
