The Effect of Visfatin on the Renal Tubulointerstitial Fibrosi and inflammation

Background: Visfatin is a new adipocytokine and links to DM, immunity, and inflammation. However, the role of visfatin in kidney remains to be elucidated. We investigated effect of visfatin in renal interstitial fibrosis and inflammation in the mouse model. Methods: Mice underwent UUO and were treated as follows; no treatment )CONT, n=14), visfatin treatment (100pM, i.p., n=14). At 7 or 14 days after surgery, mice were sacrificed and fibrosis was assessed by trichrome stain.
