Insulation Properties of Vegetable Oil Near the Pour Point

Electrical insulation is one of the most important parts in high voltage apparatus. The vegetable insulating oil had a higher water saturation, viscosity, pour point than conventional mineral oils.The viscosity of the insulating liquid is importantin the impregnation process. The breakdown voltages of insulation oils decreased uniformly with the decreased temperature. The lighting impulse test was conducted on virgin vegetable insulation oil-filled transformer. The impulse test results for the transformeer samples are broken winding at impulse full wave.
