Conceptual Design of Fischer-Tropsch Reactor in GTL(Gas To Liquid) Process

This research focused on designing and optimizing two-phase Fischer-Tropsch reactor in GTL process. The proposed Fischer-Tropsch process modelling was to develop the Fischer-Tropsch reactor model by using programming language software. In particular, the kinetic model for the reactor was developed based on the proposed reaction mechanism and modified with some parameters such as size effects of catalyst and reactor and active sites on iron based catalysts. Furthermore formation of alcohols and acids to comprehend the effects of these parameters was considered with MATLAB mathematics tool. In order to maximize hydrocarbon production, operating conditions of the two-phase model were optimized such as pressure, temperature using iron-based catalyst. As a result, behavior of represented process configurations under various operating conditions could be observed. The objective of optimization of Fischer-Tropsch reactor could be expanded to include other aspects of possibility of development.
