초록

Menetrier disease is a rare, acquired disorder of the stomach and frequently presenting hypoalbuminemia and peripheral edema. It is characterized by hypertrophic mucosal folds that most often involve the fundus and the body. Histologically, foveolar hyperplasia and glandular atrophy are the striking features. The pediatric form associates with CMV infection, allergies, and autoimmune disease, and adult form associated with H. pylori infection. Menetrier disease coexisting with ulcerative colitis is unusual and 17 cases have been reported in the literature. We report a case of Menetrier disease developed in a patient with ulcerative colitis. A 33-yearold female was admitted for vomiting and pretibial pitting edema. 5 months ago she was diagnosed as ulcerative colitis through colonoscopic biopsy. Her serum test was observed with eosinophilia and hypoalbuminemia. On gastroscopic exam, entire mucosa was markedly edematous and folded. The biopsied mucosa showed foveolar hyperplasia and eosinophilic infiltrates in the lamina propria. There was no evidence of H. pylori infection. She was treated with proton pump inhibitor and 4 month later gastroscopic biopsy showed reduced foveloar hyperplasia. Key Words: Hypertrophic gasritis, Menetrier disease, Ulcerative colitis 189 Loss
