Effect of Sylimarin on Methionine-choline Deficient Diet induced Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis in Insulin Resistant Rats

Backgrounds/Aims: The pathogenesis of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is not fully understood, although factors such as oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction and inflammatory cytokines might be important. Sylimarin is an anti-oxidants that has been reported to prevent liver injuries induced by various chemicals and toxins. In this study, we investigated the protective effect of sylimarin on diet induced NASH using methionine choline deficient (MCD) diet fed on rats with insulin resistance.
