Ultrafast Charge Transfer in Organic/Quantum Dot Solar Cells

초록

Conversion of solar energy into electricity has attracted much interest due to the need for renewable and clean energy sources, leading to active research in the field of solar cells and artificial photosynthesis. To achieve highly efficient conversion of solar energy in nanoscale solar cells such as organic solar cells, it is important to understand and optimize the processes of energy transfer and charge transfer, which are key steps of solar energy conversion and often occur on ultrafast time scales. In this talk, I will discuss recent studies on ultrafast dynamics of charge transfer in organic solar cells and quantum-dot solar cells. In particular, transient absorption spectroscopy was applied to probe real-time dynamics of charge transfer processes occurring in those solar cells. Based on the results of transient absorption measurements, we were able to achieve a better understanding of the relationship between structure, dynamics, and function of the solar energy conversion devices.
