초록
Korean National Disaster Management Institute(NDMI) developed indices for the urgent safety assessment of buildings under earthquake. Four different indices were suggested by NDMI based on the dynamic characteristics of free-field and building response. The indices include (a) ratio of natural frequency change, (b) maximum ratio of story drift, (c) excess rate of design acceleration, and (d) ratio of natural frequencies measured from a building and the free-field. Among these, the first two indices are the major concerns of the current study if they can predict actual damage of a building reliably. This study examined the reliability of the two urdgent safety indices recommended by NDMI with measured accelerations from an actual hotel building damaged by 1994 Northridge earthquake. The results are summarized and discussed.
