A Study on the Usefulness of Effective Stiffness for Robust Design of Unified Linear Actuators

초록

Unified linear actuators are mechanical devices used as basic systems in machinery, semiconductor manufacturing devices, automation equipment, inspection activities, automobiles, shipbuilding, and transportation robots. They are equipped with a ball screw and motor and the ball or roller in the block is used to efficiently create an infinite circulating motion, which results in a linear reciprocating motion that supports the block. Therefore, the core design element of this product is the rolling element of the ball contact, but due to the nature of the product, it is not easy to calculate the stiffness and failure life for a robust design. In this paper, for the convenience of design, a method of calculating linearized effective equivalent stiffness was presented, and the limited life was predicted by computational fatigue analysis using equivalent stiffness and fatigue property calculated through the test. To verify the validity, the rated and accelerated durability test was conducted by the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology and Testing and compared with computational analysis. Finally, the design guidelines required for robust design is verified.
