Engineering performance evaluation of surface modified nonwoven geotextiles

Plasma treatment was done to improve the hydrophobic functions of nonwoven geotextiles. We compared the separation and reinforcement performance through frictional properties, before and after plasma treatment. Friction tests were examined in the interface between geomembranes and nonwoven geotextiles. The frictional performance was analyzed by the peak shear stress and the residual shear stress. The long-term performance of these geotextiles could be determined and analyzed from the experimental results before and after plasma treatment. © 2011 ASCE.
