Weight Estimation of Regional Aircraft

Aircraft weight is directly related to the performance, so the accurate weight estimation is very important. Usually in conceptual design phase, empirical methods introduced by Torenbeek, Raymer, Roskam or Howe are used to estimate maximum take-off weight and component weight because of its easy application. However, there is limitation on configuration change study and its accuracy. So software using finite element method and analytic equations is proposed in this paper. Automatic geometry and mesh modeling makes it easy to initial structure sizing.
