A Study on the Measurement Properties and Channel Capacity of the Subscriber loop for HDSL

초록

The high bit-rate digital subscriber line (HDSL) technology can provide digital access, at the T1 rate of 1.544Mbps, over the existing nonloaded loop plant such as plain old telephone service (POTS). In this paper, in order to build the data base of the subscriber lines for ISDN(integrated service digital network) primary rate access, their line loss and NEXT(near end crosstalk) were measured for sample subscriber loops in Inchon area. We could express analytic channel capcity in terms of the line loss and NEXT and then compare the analytic capacities with measured ones. In conclusin, the subscriber loops in a metroploitan area in the country are acceptable for ISDN primary rate, except for areas which have far worse line characteristics and loops which have long distances over 4km.
