A DESIGN PROPOSAL IN THE TERRAIN VAGUE PRODUCED BY THE HIGH AND COMPACT CITY DEVELOPMENT

초록

The purpose of this study is to suggest the alternative that links a site of a so called urban terrain vague, a non-confirmed small piece of land which is unexpectedly created by high density urban development. Focusing on the fact that high density and high rise development always results in the absence of public place, the study argues how to respect the surrounding context, how to embody internal place within the city, which is differentiated from the streets, and how to maintain the sense of place. The design attempts to utilize such "urban terrain vague" to propose thematic open squares within the dense central city blocks. Keyword : urban terrain vague, link, thematic open square
