3-D FEM Study for Analyzing the LC Cell with Protrusion

In this paper, we report the implementation of 3-D FEM code for numerical calculation of LC cell with protrusion structures for the first time. The electro-optical characteristics of MVA mode with protrusion were investigated in order to verify the validity of the 3-D FEM simulation. The 3-D FEM simulation explains how the domain wall is formed and how the viewing angle characteristic is improved in the presence of protrusion.
