Terahertz Optical Responses of Organic Semiconducting Thin film Materials

A study on THz transient optical responses of organic semiconductor thin films is important for applications to THz opto-electronic devices. A variety of organic semiconductor thin films are deposited on polycarbonate and glass substrates in the vacuum by using a thermal resistive method. An envelope method was used to determine the thickness of the films and the optical properties of the films were measured in the visible. To measure the transient THz optical responses of the films, a coherent THz source and a photo-conductive detection method were used. The measured optical properties of the organic semiconducting films at THz frequency were analyzed and compared with those in the visible.
