We developed the new mode of Hybrid Twisted Nematic(called HTN), which has a wide viewing angle and is possible to drive at lower voltage than conventional TN LCD. The LC-alignment of top and bottom substrate is different each other and the bulk molecule of LC cell is twisted by 90。. To obtain a good stability in case of high LC pretilt, we used the photo-alignment method with synthesized new photo-polymer without rubbing process. In this paper, we describe the optimum conditions, of LC molecular alignment for cells to have the best electro-optic characteristics and the method to get a wide viewing angle by divided 4 domain in one pixel.
